How Does an
Autoresponder Work?
The autoresponder is the
base element for setting your business up on
autopilot. Here is a scenario that I use to
lay this process out for you.
Bob's Baseball sells a
training guide that teaches father's how to
coach their child's summer baseball team. He
understands that the vast majority of people
he brings to his site won't buy his guide on
their first visit.
He wants to have a way to contact these
visitors and follow-up on their initial
visit and continue the sales process. So he
builds a squeeze page for his website. You
can see "Bob's" squeeze page
here.
That page contains a
functioning opt-in form. I would suggest
that you opt-in to Bob's list and see how it
is setup. I will explain how it is setup
here, but if you opt-in you can follow along
in real time as you read it here. The Bob's
site is mine and that list is setup for
training purposes only You won't receive any
emails trying to sell you anything.
So you are a energetic
father that has taken on the task of
coaching your 8 year old son's little league
team in the coming summer. You need help. So
you hop on the web and do your search. Up
comes Bob's Baseball World in your search
results and you go to have a look. You load
the page and see a great offer for some free
tips on coaching your son's team. How
fantastic is that? That's just what you
need.
A screenshot of Bob's squeeze
page opt-in form is below. This is just a
.jpg and the form does not function.

So you fill in the form
with your first name and email address and
hit the button that reads "Send me
Johnny's Tips".
TIP: The default setting
for this button reads "submit". You
always want to change that to something a
bit more exciting. You can easily do this
when you are creating your opt-in form from
within your aWeber control panel. I show you
how to build the form above and setup the
actual opt-in form in my
Spin Your Web videos.
So now Bob has a new opt-in to his list. But
this is just the beginning of what happens
next, and it's all happens on autopilot
without you lifting a finger. This is the
beauty of an autoresponder!
